Cumhurbaşkanı Yardımcımız Sayın Cevdet Yılmaz, Yeni Akademik Yılımızın ilk dersini gerçekleştirdi: "Üniversiteler, uluslararası alanda küresel bir ağ kurarak geleceğin bilim insanlarını yetiştiren stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. İstanbul Üniversitesi bu misyonu en iyi şekilde yerine getiren yükseköğretim kurumlarından biridir. İstanbul Üniversitesi, İstanbul’un fethine kadar uzanan tarihiyle hem Türkiye’nin hem de bölgenin en önemli eğitim kurumu olmuştur. 

Üniversite denince insanın aklına, İstanbul Üniversitesinin bilime açılan tarihi ana kapısının görüntüsü gelir. İstanbul Üniversitesi'nin Perspektif2053 vizyonunu çok değerli görüyoruz. Bu yeni yüzyıla biz de Türkiye Yüzyılı diyoruz. Bu, toplumumuzun her kesimiyle, çok daha güçlü bir geleceğe yürüdüğümüz bir yüzyıl.”
