YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW OF SOCIAL SCIENCES WERE DISCUSSED
The Second International Social Sciences Congress (USBK) on the theme of "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow of Social Sciences’’ (organized by Bitlis Eren University Vocational School of Social Sciences) was held on May 8-9 with 27 different sessions.

Prof. Dr. Zülfikar Discussed the Issue of Urban and Health Management
Speaking at the Rectors' session of the Congress, which brought together a large number of academics, Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar made a speech. In his speech on “City and Health Management”, Prof. Dr. Zülfikar spoke about urban planning affects health policies and community health. He stated that a city policy that prioritizes public health is possible with long-term planning. Prof. Dr. Zülfikar said: “To achieve the desired goals in health; it is possible to create intervention programs by making strategic plans for the city's health needs, and to follow the process by setting goals and timelines.”
Prof. Dr. Zülfikar underlined stakeholder participation and social cooperation in order to create healthy cities, and he emphasized that participation should be ensured at the widest possible level.
The Rector of Muş Alparslan University, Prof.Dr. Mustafa Alican made a speech at the Rectors' session. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alican mentioned the historical importance of Malazgirt in his speech on ”History and Cultural Heritage of Eastern Anatolia: The Case of Malazgirt’’. Also, the Rector of Bitlis Eren University Prof. Dr. Necmettin Elmastaş emphasized the importance of regional development with his presentation titled ‘’Contributions of Geoparks to Sustainable Tourism: The Case of Bitlis Nemrut Geopark’’.
IU Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar concluded his speech by stating the importance of the Congress and thanking Bitlis Eren University and Rector Elmastaş for showing his contribution and vision to Social Sciences.
27 Sessions of the Congress Were Held
At the Congress, predictions about social sciences and the future were discussed. Participants from different fields of expertise emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation with their presentations. At the Congress, issues such as economic development, digitalization in education, cultural transformation and environmental sustainability were discussed. Also, the contributions of the participants as well as experts, academicians and researchers from different branches of social sciences were included.
In the programme where intensive participation was provided; students, academicians and experts discussed the problems and opportunities facing social sciences. While new research areas and cooperation opportunities were determined at the Congress, academic discussions revealed the interdisciplinary nature of social sciences and its critical role in social development.
