We Signed the Mevlana Agreement with COMSATS University
IU Board consisting of IU Graduate School of Engineering and Sciences Director, Chemical Engineering Academic Member Prof. Dr. Şah İsmail Kırbaşlar, Faculty of Engineering Erasmus Coordinator, Geophysics Engineering Academic Member Prof. Dr. İsmet Kanlı and Computer Engineering Academic Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olcay Kurşun visited COMSATS University which is the best university of Pakistan in the fields of Technology and Engineering on behalf of Istanbul University and Faculty of Engineering on 16-19 May 2016. IU Board made examinations on the main campus which is located in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Mevlana Agreement was signed in order to increase the cooperation between Istanbul University and COMSATS University.
As a part of MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and Mevlana programme bilateral agreements were signed between Istanbul University and COMSATS University. IU Board completed the scientific and technical works with detailed and hard working in order to enable student exchanges on both undergraduate and graduate level within the scope of bilateral cooperation between Istanbul University and COMSATS University.
Within the context of agreements signed between the two universities, it will be possible to make student and academic member exchanges. Also, IU Board held separate meetings with deans and executives of COMSATS University, which has 8 campuses located in Islamabad, Abbottabad, Wah, Lahore, Attock, Sahıwal, Veharı and Vırtual, and they had an exchange of ideas about the collaborations as a part of housing, nourishment, transportation and exchange programmes of the students.
Having gained information about all the other departments including Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Geology, the IU Committee discussed the exchange of academic members and students as well as the possible dual and multiple science projects.
IU Committee, had attended the Coordinating Council meeting as the guest of the Rector of COMSATS University Prof. Dr. M. Junaid Zaidi and there they met the Chairman of Pakistan Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and the Minister of Science and Technology Fazal Abbas Maken.
IU Committee have had detailed discussions with, respectively, Dr. Arshad S. Malik (Head International Office), Dr. Shafaat A. Khan (Health Informatics Department, Head), Prof. Dr. Tayyeb Akram (Wah Campus Director), Prof. Dr. Khan Gul Jadoon (Abbottabad Campus Director), Dr. Muhammed Abdul Rehman Khan (Attock Campus Director), Dr. Ataullah Kalim (Project Director of COMSATS) and Dr. Ishtiaq A.K. Jadoon (Chairman of Eath Sciences).
The contract between the two universities has been presented to IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak. IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak and IU International Academic Relations Council President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeşim Özer Yürür have been informed in detail by the committee.
