The signature ceremony of academic collaboration protocol, which has been signed between Istanbul University and Girne University on science, culture and art, took place in IU Rector’s building on March 10, 2016. The protocol was signed by IU Rector Mahmut Ak and Girne University Rector’s Proxy Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu.

The protocol which was signed aims at carrying out common projects and prepare publications for educational institutions, do student exchanges, arrange scientific researches, sports activities and scientific meetings and introductive activities presenting the two universities properly with education, science, culture and art branches.

“We Give Importance to Protocols in the Direction of Collaboration of Universities”

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, who expressed his satisfaction for the protocols that are made in the direction of collaboration of universities, said, “We are very happy to have signed a protocol of academic collaboration. For us, Northern Cyprus is of great importance. We are ready for every project, research, and study made with Girne University. We have given a special importance to exchange programs for students and academic members. I believe that both universities have a lot to share with one another. I would like to join personally all the short and long term activities and studies taking place in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I believe that our academic members will sign great achievements all together. We are ready to drive Girne University forward in academic platforms and recognition. I hope that the protocol will be beneficial for both universities.”

‘’We Will Contribute to Education And Science’’
The signature ceremony of academic cooperation protocol about scientific, cultural, artistic and educational relations was carried out between Istanbul University and Girne University in rectorate of Istanbul University on 10th of March 2016.The protocol was signed by Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak and Deputy of Rector of Girne University Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu.

With signed protocol, it is aimed to carry out common projects in the all education areas with education, science, culture and art branches, prepare common scientific investigations and publications, make lecturer and student exchange, organize common scientific trips, sportive activities and scientific meetings and make introductive activities for both universities.

‘’We Care The Protocols Which Are Done In Accordance With Universities’ Cooperation’’

Rector of Istanbul University uttered his pleasure about protocol and said, ‘’ We are happy to sign an academic cooperation protocol with Girne University. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is very important for us. We are ready for any project, search, study and activity which are going to be done with Girne University. We especially have given importance to student and lecturer exchange programmes and I believe that the two universities will contribute many things to each other. I personally want to join to all studies and occasions in short or long terms. I believe that our all lecturers will put signature into good studies. We are ready to put forward Girne University in academic platform and awareness. I wish the protocol would be beneficial for both two universities.

According to the cooperation protocol which has student and lecturer exchange program, Istanbul University and Girne University are supposed to do lecturer exchange by declaring beforehand the field of the sciences studied together, and besides they will be able to do student exchange for internship inclusive of the determined quato and conditions.

Istanbul University and Girne University are going to do joint scientific meetings such as congresses, conferences, symposiums, workshops and sports competitions, they are also going to invite one another to these activities. According to the protocol, in the activities some promotional works which include both of the universities are going to be held.

In Girne University committee, which visits Istanbul University for academic cooperation protocol, The Founding Rector of Near East University Dr. Suat Günsel, The Rector Deputy of Girne University Prof. Dr. Ilkay Salihoğlu and The Assistant of   The Founding Rector of Near East University Tümer Garip have taken part.

After the signing of the protocol, The Rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, informed Girne University committee about the recent academic and scientific developments in Istanbul University by showing them the ancient rectorate building. After the sightseeing of the building, The Rector of IU Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak and The Rector Deputy of Girne University Prof. Dr. Ilkay Salihoğlu gave a plaque to one another.
