The IU Good Practice Examples and Future Vision Workshop

The IU Good Practice Examples and the Vision of Future Workshop in Istanbul University was carried out in the Hall of Doctorate between the dates 21st -22nd February and February 27th– March 1st 2017.

The speeches, which were made by the deans of the faculties in several sessions, were delivered during the first programme of the workshop executed between the 21st and 22nd February. The Deans referred to subjects of academic themes such as student quotas, range of lecturers by faculties, number of students and publications per lecturer. They also cited operations aimed at objectives which were determined at the workshop in the previous year, 2016.

During the first week of the workshop, the representatives of the Press and Public Relations Department, Quality Unit, Training Coordinator, International Academic Relations and Bologna Coordination Commission (BCC) made presentations as well as the faculties.

In the second program of IU Good Practice Examples and Future Vision 2017 Workshop held from February 27 to March 1, presentations were made by the Units, Institutes and Application and Research Centres.

The first day of the workshop’s second programme was held in 3 sessions. In the presentations of varied units in Istanbul University, they gave information about the projects that were passed on in 2016 and explained their goals for 2017.

On the second day of the workshop, Istanbul University Institutes and on the third day, the Application and Research Centres gave information about the activities they carried out within one year.

“We Must Make Our Collaboration between Our Faculties More Active”

The Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut made a general assessment at the end of the workshop: “The main purpose of this meeting is to make the collaboration between faculties more active and fertile. In the following years we will be following up on the diversity, impact and fulfilment of the promises given here. That is our duty in terms of keeping this institution dynamic.” he said.

The Value of Large Corporations is also Significant

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak continued his speech saying that the value of big institutions is also great: “In the presentations we have seen that all of us have contributed to a wide and effective network of services. We also have the chance to see what the units are busy with, and we can look at our own work. The units that are close to each other see where they can move together and how they can get help from each other. Following these presentations, we will continue to work in a transparent, predictable and accountable manner. Our primary goal is to provide inner peace and create a culture of cooperation. We will continue our work for this purpose and in discipline.”

Stating that the meetings went fruitfully, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak concluded his speech: “We hope that the targets set today will have been achieved by the presentations in 2018. To discuss as managers and employees of units that are aimed at new targets next year, thank you all.”

The IU Good Practice Examples and Future Vision 2017 Workshop, coordinated by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of Istanbul University, ended after collective photo shootings.
