Russian Literature Meets Turkish Readers
“Meeting of Russian Literature and Turkısh Readers” panel held in İstanbul University with participation of Prof. Dr. Ataol Behramoğlu

The panel started with speech of İÜ Faculty of Letters Department of Slavic Languages Head Prof. Dr. Emine İnanır. Prof. Dr. İnanır says that they organized this event because the year of 2015 is celebrated as the year of Russian Literature and gave Prof. Dr. Ataol Behramoğlu the floor.
Prof. Dr. Behramoğlu narrated how he met with Russian Literature and the reason why he chose Russian to listeners. Prof. Dr. Behramoğlu said that he met with Russian Literature at high school, fell in love with Russian and it is on the same level with Turkish in the context of vowel harmony.
Assoc. Prof. Hülya Arslan explained the biggest richness of Russian Literature is that it always contains a hope although it always contains sadness and stated why he is interested in Russian language.
Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Kandemir talked about Russian writer Valentin Rasputini. Saying that she was really influenced by Rasputi, Assoc. Dr. Arslan says “To see ways of understanding life was really surprising for me.”
Assoc. Dr. Korhan Korbek made a presentation about Russian poet Sergey Yesenin. Stating that the base of Yesenin’s creativity is his love towards his country, Assoc. Dr. Korbek stated that poet was interested in Eastern culture and he wanted to go Iran but couldn’t and he created “Persian Motifs” as if he went to Iran.
Panel ended after Ataol Behramoğlu read a poem by giving the guests as gifts.
