Rectorate Handover Ceremony Held at İstanbul University
İstanbul University (İU) Rectorate Handover Ceremony was held at the Rectorate Office on August 1, 2023. Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar became the new rector of İstanbul University.
İU Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar took over his duty from Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, who served as İU Rector between 2015-2023. İU Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, İU 22. Term Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, President of the Forensic Medicine Institute Dr. Hızır Aslıdük, İU Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mustafa Oral Öncül, Prof. Dr. Levent Şahin, Prof. Dr. Haluk Alkan, Prof. Dr. Recep Güloğlu, İU Statistics Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Zülfikar, İU Department of Corporate Communication Coordinator and Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan, İU General Secretary Metin Küçük, İU Deputy General Secretaries Bilgin Hafızmehmetoğlu and Figen Cihan, İU Corporate Communications Deputy Coordinator Dr. Elif Kahraman and the family of our Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar attended the handover ceremony.
“Successful Works Will Continue”
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, in his speech at the handover ceremony, thanked Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, whose term of office has expired, and the rectorate management for their work. Stating that the successful education and scientific studies at İstanbul University will be developed and continued, Prof. Dr. Zülfikar said, "We will strive to do the best for our University together."
“Our Hands, Our Eyes, and Our Hearts Are in This University”
Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak started his speech by telling the history of İstanbul University and the rectorate. Prof. Dr. Ak stated that he has been at the university for 41 years and said, “We spent more time here than with our family. If we saw something beautiful at the university, we were as happy as if it had happened at home. Therefore, this love is not something that will end. Again, our hands, eyes and hearts are on this university. I hope this place will become even more exalted with the experience of Prof. Dr. Zülfikar. We congratulate you. Good luck.”
The handover ceremony ended with mutual flower presentation and photo taking. We wish success to our new rector and hope that his term will be beneficial.
