“We Aim to Turn the Patented Inventions from Ideas to Products”

In the 5^th Turkish Patent Awards, the prize of “The Top University Making Patent Applications” went to Istanbul University. A dinner in honor of the faculty members applying for patent was given by Istanbul University in IU Baltalimanı Social Facilities on 21^st April Thursday.

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak congratulated all the faculty and academic members applying for patent in his speech.

“Aim is Turning Patented Inventions into Production”

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak said: “Our university, on the project basis, is successfully doing its duty about gathering the services such as research center, laboratory, patent office in case of necessity. We are carrying on some works by contacting with business world to make cooperative projects. We, as Istanbul University, have some attempts and works with the purpose of turning patents into industrial productions. We know that we should form a social, economic, cultural structure based on science-industry-innovation also suitable for necessities of our country in every field and invest in things that will take our fund’s quality, quantity, level of managerial, professional, technical competence further.” by implying that Istanbul University acts as a bridge between the cooperation of university and industry.

“Managing the Process Turning from Idea to Production”

Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak, who expressed that Istanbul University adopts the mind of managing the process turning from idea to production and ensuring coordination between the partners as a principal, said: “ We aim to increase the technological, innovator, improver abilities of public and private institutions by providing scientists’ and industrial corporation’s benefitting from national and international research support programs. We intend to contribute our country’s international competitive capacity by forming a technology development and innovation culture with the purpose of turning information to production”. Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak added that the success that has been made in the field of patent filing will continue in the field of turning these patents to production and we will contribute to the national economy with this way.
