Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar’s name was given to IU Experimental Medicine Research Institute.

As a part of Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar’s visiting program to Istanbul University, “IU Aziz Sancar Experimental Medicine Research Institute” opening ceremony took place in 23th May 2016.

Experimental Medicine Research Institute director Prof. Dr. Uğu Özbek gave a speech in the opening ceremony and expressed that they felt honoured giving Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar’s name to the 71 year-old institute and stated that they will be doing their works with the aid of his consultancy.

Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, in his speech, said “This is a great honour for me and I do not know how to express my gratitude. I hope that great researches and discoveries take place in this instituted and people who are more successful than me will be raised here and you give their names to the institutes.”

Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar met with the academic members of the Experimental Medicine Research Institute and learned about the studies which were carried in the institute and conveyed his experiences. He also exchanged his thoughts on the scientific projects that can take place in the future.

Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Visited the Lecture Hall Which His Name Was Given To

The name of the 14 Match Lecture Hall, the biggest lecture hall of IU İstanbul Medicine Faculty with the capacity of 491 people, was changed as “Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Lecture Hall” because of the contributions Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar did to IU İstanbul Medicine Facuty after reconstruction works and as worthy of his success. As a part of Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar’s visiting program to Istanbul University, he visited Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar Lecture Hall as well.

Receiving information on the lecture hall, Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar expressed that he felt honoured because his name was given to the lecture hall with the biggest capacity IU Istanbul Medicine Faculty.
