Through the collaboration of IU Department of Foreign Languages and Pearson, the 11th center in which PTE will be held is opened at the IU Department of Informatics building. The opening of PTE that has YDS equivalence and international recognition, is carried out by IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak.

“It is a Collaboration That Provides Prestige to Both Parties”

Stating that Istanbul University has always put forth its experience when it comes to examination, IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak said “We consider our exams being trustable very important. The IUYOS (Istanbul University Examination for Foreign or Overseas Students) being held in 46 countries and 65 centers is a very good example of this. We think that it is very important that our exams reach to everyone who wants to connect with us. This center will serve our members as well as the other people who are interested in it. The exam holds both national and international recognition. Through this collaboration, we have the chance to help people with their career plans, make their lives easier and give them a safe environment in which they can express their thoughts faster and easier.”

“A Reachable and Safe Center”

Stating in his opening speech that this center started a new period, President of IU Department of Foreign Languages Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın said “It is especially very important that this center is international and its 11th center is opening in our university. I thank everyone who took part in bringing this reachable and safe center to our university.”

“It Can Be Used for Academic Applications”

İpek Sarı, Assessment Solutions Manager at Pearson said that “We, Pearson Turkey, are very proud and happy today. It is very important for us that we got to open our 11th center in such a prestigious university. PTE can be used for academic developments starting from doctorate level including asst. prof. level. Besides this, it is a test that can be used abroad and domestic Proficiency Examinations.

Computer based PTE will separately assess 4 of candidates’ basic language skills such as listening, reading, speaking and writing. Those who want to certificate their English skills in a short period of time will make use of flexible exam dates. The results of the exam is expected to be declared in 5 days and participants can claim their result papers for 2 years after the exam.

People can apply to academic staff and graduate degrees with their PTE results that has YDS equivalence taken from OSYM. And those who want to be exempted from English Proficiency Exams will also be able to use their PTE results. They can also apply to undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs of the universities of foreign countries, particularly United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia.
