The German-Turkish Relations Conference, performed together by Istanbul University, YÖK and the German Academic Excahang Service ( DAAD) was held on 30 -31 October 2014 in the IU Congress and Culture Center. The opening speeches were made by the Rector of Turkish-German University Dr. Khalil Akkanat, TÜBİTAK Vice President Dr. Mehmet Alper Kutay, DAAD Secretary General Dr. Dorothea Ruland, Head of Higher Education Dr. Gökhan Çetinsaya.

The first speech of the general session of the Conference was made by IU Rector Dr. Yunus Söylet. The title of his speech was  “Internationalization Strategy of Turkey and its effect on Turkish-German University Cooperation.” In his speech IU Rector Dr. Yunus Söylet expressed the importance of the relationship between Turkish-German universities and gave information about Turkish Higher Education and internationalization process.

The General Session continued with Peter Greis's (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) “Current Thougths About Associate Degrees within the concept of German Internationalization Strategy and Bologna Process”, Maria Kelon’s (ENQA) "Higher Education External Quality Assurance : Opportunities and Obstacles" , Dr.-Ing. Thomas Kathöfer’s (German Rectors' Conference Secretary General) " Recognition Applications in German and in Turkey ", Gebhard Reul’s (DAAD ) and Assoc. Dr. M. Murat Erdogan’s (Hacettepe University) " The Presentation of Survey Results on Turkish-German University Cooperation.

After the sessions, “Collaborative Programs” were evaluated and studies were conducted in 4 groups under the titles of Recognition Applications in Collaboration Programs , Quality Assurance , and the Turkish -German University Language Experience. The results were discussed. The first day ended with the Bosphorus Tour.

 

Turkish-German University Mutual Interviews On the second day of the conference, various presentations were held under the titles of "Principles: Turkish-German Cooperation in Research", "Binary Research - Best Practices and Financing Tools", "A Step Ahead Approach in the Fight Against Global Challenges: Horizon 2020 ", " Turkish - German Experience in FP7: "Functional Nitrites in Energy Applications (FUNEA) "and" Additional Potentials through Horizon 2020."

After the break, bilateral meetings were held about Turkish-German University Cooperation . Turkish-German International Media Studies Program was signed  The official opening  of “International Media Studies, Turkish-German Joint Second Master's Degree Program" realised by Istanbul University Faculty of Communication, Bonn Rhein Sieg University and Deutsche Welle Academy in this fall semester was held in the IU Congress and Culture Center at 14:30.

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Yunus Söylet, Program Coordinators Prof. Dr. Ceyhan Kandemir (IU Faculty of Communication ), Prof. Dr. Michael Krzemiński (Bonn - Rhein-Sieg Uoas ), Prof. Dr. Christopher Schmidt (DW Academy / Bonn - Rhein-Sieg Uoas ) were present in the official opening.
