Within the scope of the Values Short-Length Film Contest, the demonstration and interview of the film “I Am On A Long And Narrow Road”, which won “Social Responsibility Special Award” in 52th Antalya Film Festival, was held. Values Short-Length Film Contest Award Ceremony, was carried out in 12-13th of May, 2016 in Ataturk University Communication Faculty (AUCF) Conference Hall.

The crew of “I Am On A Long And Narrow Road” that visited the Ataturk University Central Campus At the first day of the ceremony following the opening programme, also visited the AUCF Television and Radio Studios in company with AUCF Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Yusuf Yurdigul and Istanbul Manager of TRT Abdulhamit Avsar and got information about the current studies.

IU Technical Sciences Vocational School Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Ozgu Yolcu, IU Communication Faculty Members Assistant Prof. Dr. Mesut Aytekin, Assistant Prof. Dr. Umit Sari and Assistant Prof. Dr. Onur Akyol participated in the interview of the film which is held in the second day of the ceremony. In the interview, informations about behind the scenes, shooting phases and the manufacturing processes of the film that won “Social Responsibility Special Award” in Antalya Film Festival were relayed and the questions from students was answered. At the end of the interview Project Coordinator and AUCF Member Assoc. Dr. Aslı Yurdigul heralded the certificate of appreciation and various presents to speakers.

“The First Project of Festival Academy”

“I Am On A Long And Narrow Road”, is the first project of the “Festival Academy” which was constituted by the students and the faculty members of Istanbul University and Akdeniz University. “I Am On A Long And Narrow Road” tells the lives, struggles and achievements of the individuals who need special requirement. Before the festival, Festival Academy crew, gathering periodically, visited the OZGEBIR which is at the center of the movie, made shootings, met the educators and the parents. Within two weeks, all of the shootings and editing had been completed.

Serife, who started to play piano with the encouragement that her teachers gave her in Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Special Education School and Rehabilitation Center, has been feeling much more valuable. She has lost her father recently. On one hand she goes school, on the other hand helps her mother who works in the greenhouse. Serife and her friends show everyone that every obstacle can be surmountable if the chance was given.
