European Union ERASMUS+ KA220 HED Project in cooperation with Turkey, Greece, Italy and Sweden

The European Union Erasmus+ KA220 HED Cooperation in Higher Education project titled "LEAP: unLocking carEer potentiAl with comPlex systems, data analytics and machine learning", of which Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülistan Çiğdem Yalçın is the project manager on behalf of İstanbul University, a faculty member of the Department of Physics of İstanbul University, was awarded funding with a total budget of 400,000 Euros.


On December 15, 2023, the kick off meeting was held in Athens and the project will serve as a bridge between academia in Turkey, Greece, Italy and Sweden and the components of the information technology sector in industry.

​Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülistan Çiğdem Yalçın briefly describes the project as follows:

"Within the scope of our project, an interdisciplinary problem pool will be created by combining two perspectives: informatics in academia and informatics in industry. In order to address these problems in the most accurate and efficient way, we will develop theories, methodologies and practices that we will develop by utilizing complex systems and digital transformations such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, and we will develop curricula and trainings that will be open to students, graduates or professionals who want to improve their careers and to anyone who wants to use their potential more efficiently and aim for career development.

In the trainings we will create in the light of the needs analysis that will be based on real data in academia and industry, we will be equipped with Information Communication Technologies skills, developed in accordance with the current situation of the labor market, and real-life problem examples will be discussed with a complex systems approach in a curriculum focusing on data analytics and machine learning with an experimental pedagogical approach."
