An Honorary PhD by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Was Entitled to Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak

We Entered into a Cooperation Agreement with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak and the accompanying committee visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

During the visiting, an ‘honorary PhD’ was entitled by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak. IU Rector Mahmut Ak was considered worthy to this title because of his successes in his scientific and management career, his efforts in the scientific and academic cooperation between Turkey and Kazakhstan and his contributions to development of science. In the visiting, also an intercollegiate cooperation agreement aiming to produce scientific projects between Istanbul University and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was signed.

‘‘We Aim to Make the Best of Our Resources’’

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak gave a speech by gathering with faculty members in the ceremony which he got the title of ‘honorary PhD’ by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak said that ‘Istanbul University is an establishment which takes its power from its scientific quality. Our University ranked as the 415th among the best 500 universities in 2015. I think we are going to be rank among the best 300-400 in 2016. Since one of our university members also received Nobel Prize. Orhan Pamuk, who received Nobel Prize in Literature, was graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Communication. Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, who received Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2015, was graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. These are all shows our responsibility for development of our country, our region and humanity. We aim to make the best of our resources, make new projects providing us to live in a better world and grow the youth working with the aim of a better world with this responsibility.’ by implying that he fells honored and happy.

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak has explained that in order to have an education with high quality, firstly the situations should be considered in an objective way and added, “We have to have strategies in order to make our mission and vision come true within the scope of a projection. Istanbul University has 159 collaborations with 55 foreign countries and makes academic member and student dynamism. Moreover, we have 348 Erasmus collaborations with 27 European countries. We are a member of Coimbra group which is a higher education network consisting of Europe’s oldest universities.” Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak said that with all these works, our bond with Turkish science world, which is a common cultural heritage, will become strong and ended his words by thanking people of Kazakhstan Al-Farabi National University which helped emphasize this beautiful bond by giving the title of honorary PhD. After his talk, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak was presented a gift and academic clothing.

IU Committee Visited Kazakhstan Al-Farabi National University Faculty of Medicine

IU Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak and its committee, while they were at Kazakhstan Al-Farabi National University, visited Al-Farabi National University Faculty of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Ak had information about the works carried in Al-Farabi National University Faculty of Medicine. During his visit, he also exchanged ideas on research projects, between the two universities, that can be improved.

IU Rector Assistant Prof. Dr. Bayram Mert Savrun and IU Secretary General Metin Küçük were in IU Committee.
